15 summonses issued to smokers along KL walkways

A recent joint operation by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the Health Ministry and other agencies saw 15 summonses issued to those caught smoking on the sidewalks in the capital, where the total compounds issued amounted to RM3,750.
DBKL Health and Environment Department public health division deputy director Dr Nor Halizam Ismail said the operation was to ensure compliance with the smoking ban and the focus was on all covered walkways in Kuala Lumpur, added that the Kuala Lumpur Smoke-Free (KLBAR) initiative also conducted health awareness for smokers via the distribution of information related to the mQuit Smoking Cessation Service through jomquit.com during the operation.
