60 killed as train mows down crowd in Amritsar

A commuter train travelling at high speed ran through a crowd of people on the rail tracks in Amritsar, Punjab in India killing at least 60 people on Friday. Hundreds had gathered to watch the burning of an effigy as part of the Dussehra festival celebrations, when a commuter train ran through the crowd.
Amarinder Singh, Punjab chief minister has ordered for an inquiry into the incident and also to know why the celebrations were being held so close to the railway tracks.
