Agong calls on govt to strengthen national security, combat cyber crimes

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said Malaysia must be prepared to face challenges and potential threats to national security.
Speaking at the opening of the second session of the 15th Parliament on Monday (Feb 13), His Majesty said the old procedural loopholes that crippled the nation's defense system needed to be stopped immediately.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also said the government should urgently address issues related to illegal immigration and refugees, including asylum seekers, adding that continuous and integrated efforts in law enforcement must continue to be strengthened, especially with regard to cyber crimes, to ensure that Malaysia remains peaceful, prosperous and sovereign.
