Anwar: Different approach to tackle poverty needed, or it will remain

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government has to take a different approach to address poverty in the country.
Anwar was referring to a report on July 10, where Malaysia’s poverty line index had increased to 5.6%, or 405,411 households in 2016, after the government revised its methodology to calculate the index.
The PKR president also said it was undeniable that financial leakages were reported by the National Audit every year, with the low-cost people’s housing project (PPR) among the most problematic government projects.
