AZ, Sinovac vaccines being reviewed for booster shots, says Health DG

Covid-19 vaccines such as AstraZeneca and Sinovac are undergoing a review process for use as a booster dose, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general on Friday (Nov 12) said it is also possible for fully-vaccinated Sinovac recipients to receive the same vaccine as a booster dose but the NPRA has not yet approved Sinovac as a booster shot, and noted that most of the studies conducted in Chile, Turkey and Thailand for the Sinovac vaccine on the heterologous (mix-and-match) approach have shown increased efficacy compared to a homologous booster shot.
