Azalina cites Zara Qairina inquest in push for Coroners Bill

De facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said cited the ongoing inquest into Zara Qairina Mahathir's death, along with past cases like Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, Teoh Beng Hock, A. Kugan and S. Balamurugan, as reasons for a proposed Coroners Bill.

She said justice "should not depend on whether a case goes viral," stressing every reported death deserves equal scrutiny.

The bill, aimed at clarifying SOPs and roles in death investigations, is expected to be tabled in Parliament next year, delayed from this year due to the Budget 2027 session.
