Baby product safety standards under review by ministry, says Fuziah

A set standard for disposable diapers and other baby products will be developed in the near future, according to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

Responding to Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi (PN-Tumpat) during the minister's question and answer session on Wednesday (Feb 26), Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh acknowledged that the existing safety standards for baby diapers have "a lot of overlaps and also gaps," and stressed that the ministry will begin engaging with all agencies, including the Health Ministry and Chemistry Department, to set safety standards for other baby products, including disposable diapers.

Fuziah also highlighted that the ministry has already implemented safety standards for baby toys, particularly regarding the use of potentially toxic paint.
