Bank Negara: Economy on steady growth path

Bank Negara Governor Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus announced the report at a press conference on Malaysia’s second-quarter GDP growth on Friday that the economic growth for Malaysia in the second quarter of this year came in at 4.5%, which was below the consensus estimates of more than 5%.
The Bank Negara Governor also said monetary policy will remain "accommodative" and the economy is on a steady growth path this year and in 2019, where the central bank relaxed some rules introduced in 2016 to support the ringgit currency, thereby allowing greater flexibility for exporters in management of their export proceeds.
