Bank Negara mulls ‘no look back’ policy for medical insurance claims, Parliament told

Bank Negara is considering a "no look back" policy that would stop insurers and takaful operators from rejecting medical claims over unintentional non-disclosure of pre-existing conditions.

Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong said during Question Time on Monday (July 6) that the proposal is part of broader efforts to strengthen policyholder protection, alongside existing rules that prevent insurers from cancelling or refusing to renew medical coverage simply because a customer makes a claim or develops an illness after obtaining insurance.
