Batang Kali landslide: Financial aid to be given to victims and heirs, says PM

As search operations continue for the remaining landslide victims here at Batang Kali, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says immediate financial aid will be channelled to victims’ families.

The Prime Minister said that after visiting ground zero, adding that RM10,000 will be given to families of the deceased, with RM1,000 to be given to survivors, through coordination between the Selangor state government and various non-governmental organisations.

When asked whether a special committee would be formed to investigate the tragedy and whether human error could have caused the landslide, Anwar said he would wait for official reports from rescue officials.
