BNM governor: Asian Monetary Fund could be the ‘next step’

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus said the Asian Monetary Fund (AMF) “could be the next step” for Malaysia in strengthening regional financial cooperation.
Nor Shamsiah told reporters after announcing the first quarter (1Q) 2023 Economic Performance on Friday (May 12) that promoting the use of local currency is not new, and that Malaysia is one of the pioneer countries to use local currency to settle trade and investment.
