Brother unable to pull mother to safety as grille block escape in deadly fire

Raja Ikhwan Hadi Raja Ahmad's youngest brother could only watch helplessly as their mother cried for help behind a window grille during the fire that killed three family members at Taman Desa Tambun, Ipoh on Sunday (Sept 20).

The 47-year-old said his brother Raja Muhamad Syukri, in his 30s, managed to grab hold of his 64-year-old mother, Zaitun Mohamed's hand, but could not get her out.
