Budget 2025: Carbon Tax by 2026, RM70mil rebates for energy-efficient appliances

A carbon tax on the iron, steel, and energy sectors will be introduced by 2026.

When presenting Budget 2025 on Friday (Oct 18), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that this initiative is designed to encourage the adoption of low-carbon technologies.

Additionally, Anwar announced a RM70mil rebate initiative under Budget 2025 to incentivise consumers to purchase energy-efficient electrical appliances, further promoting the shift towards green technology.
