Malaysia should extend its coverage of Covid-19 testing using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method as it began to relax the movement control order (MCO) by including those aged above 50, said a medical expert from China.
Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital's associate chief physician of intensive care unit Dr Wen Miaoyun said that after the lockdown in Wuhan was lifted, China stepped up its PCR testing by targeting that age group, those having respiratory symptoms and those with a history of close contact.
Dr Wen is one of the eight medical experts from China who were in Malaysia from April 18 to May 3 to lend a hand to the Health Ministry to combat the virus.
The experts were interviewed by The Star and Bernama on Saturday before their return to China.
