Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Zainal Kling walked out of Bukit Aman police headquarters around 1pm after being questioned by police for about two hours on Friday.
It is also learned that University Malaya Malay Excellence Centre Director Prof Dr Hashim Ismail was at Bukit Aman to record his statement.
According to their lawyer, Muhamad Hisham Marzuki, both Zainal and Hashim cooperated with police in recording their statements in accordance with section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Both of them were called in by Bukit Aman after Prof Dr Zainal delivered a fiery speech at the congress where he reportedly reminded Malaysia's ethnic minorities of the so-called "social contract", which he claimed allowed them to gain citizenship.
