The Covid-19 outbreak in Sabah saw 97 out of 111 new cases in the country on Friday, prompting Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah to call on Sabahans to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) as the state is going to the polls on Saturday.
Dr Noor Hisham added that the virus found in Sabah’s Benteng Lahad Datu (LD) cluster was of the D614G mutation, which is said to be of a highly infectious strain.
The Health DG also said a new Covid-19 cluster, dubbed the Orkim cluster, has been detected in Johor involving a ship docked at the Pasir Gudang port.
30 individuals who are the ship's crew have been screened for Covid-19, with two Indonesian crewmembers tested positive.
