Customs foils drug smuggling attempt at KLIA

The Customs Department intercepted a local passenger attempting to smuggle 15.3 kg of marijuana, worth RM55,530, in their luggage at KLIA1 on Aug 4, after arriving from Bangkok.
At a press conference on Wednesday (Aug 14), Central Zone Customs assistant director-general Norlela Ismail reported that the passenger initially claimed to be carrying only bird’s nests, but a search uncovered 27 packages of suspected marijuana hidden in the luggage.
