Decision on any foreign currency for trade will be in country's best interests, Dewan Rakyat told

The Malaysian government must closely scrutinise any foreign currencies used for international trade, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Responding to a question from Young Syefura Othman (PH-Bentong) during Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Dec 5), the Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister emphasised this need following recent threats by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to impose 100% tariffs on Brics members if they proceed with introducing a new currency for global trade, even though Malaysia is not part of the grouping.
