Disaster preparedness must be based on science, technology, says Zahid

Science, data and technology-based preparedness has been outlined as a key strategic direction to strengthen Malaysia’s national disaster management framework, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid, who is also chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, said disaster management efforts can no longer rely solely on institutions, stressing the need for a more structured, coordinated and forward-looking approach to address future risks.
