Discovery of chemicals in Machang Bubok oil palm just tip of the iceberg

Chemicals illegally disposed within an oil palm estate in Machang Bubok led to discovery of a larger illegal waste disposal.
An area over five hectares equivalent to six soccer fields have been piled up with solid waste after years of collection.
Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) president Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the council will take action against the operators adding on the operators should learn from the recent chemical pollution incident in Sungai Kim Kim in Johor and not jeopardise safety of people around.
However, Machang Bubok assemblyman, Lee Khai Loon urged for sufficient enforcement to stop the dumping, to encourage initiatives to clean up and rehabilitate the place.
