Empowerment of the country’s economy must go hand in hand with the empowerment of arts and culture because they reflect the nation's integrity and identity, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking at the launch of Ismail Zain Intermediations: Selected Writings on Art and Aesthetics at the National Art Gallery on Tuesday (April 8), Anwar urged the Tourism Ministry, the National Art Gallery, artists, and cultural institutions to collaborate in developing new initiatives that promote public understanding, appreciation, and exposure to local art.

He also praised Ismail Zain—artist, curator, educator, and art thinker—for offering a compelling vision that bridges traditional values with the embrace of change and modernity.
