Fahmi: Govt rallies agencies, banks and tech firms against scammers

The government has set up a cross-sector working committee to strengthen efforts against increasingly complex online scams.

Speaking after the National Cyber Security Summit 2026 (NCSS 2026) on Wednesday (July 8), Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the committee will bring together security agencies, enforcement bodies, banks, telcos and social media platforms to improve prevention, enforcement and public awareness.

He added that the committee will also strengthen digital literacy and cross-agency cooperation to create a safer digital ecosystem.
