Finance Minister wants all to do the right thing when declaring taxes

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has called for retailers and businesses to be honest in declaring taxes and the government will reciprocate by adopting a soft approach towards the implementation of the Sales and Services Tax (SST).
Lim said that after a briefing with the businesses and traders on Saturday.
Meanwhile, in a separate press conference, Customs Department’s Director-General Datuk Seri T. Subromaniam said the department is targeting a collection of RM22bil in revenue for the SST which includes the collection from several new industries that are now part of the Services Tax.
Subromaniam also said that thus far, his Department has registered some 77,451 businesses have been registered under the SST through an automatic system transfer from MyGST to MySST.
