Fire tears through recycling factory in Kempas sending clouds of smoke billowing

A fire broke out at a pallet recycling company in Taman Perindustrian Maju Jaya, s on Friday (May 29), sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky that was visible up to nearly 10km away.

About 44 firefighters took almost two hours to bring the blaze under control, while all workers escaped safely and no injuries were reported.

Johor Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Muhammad Zaharul Asyraf told reporters that firefighters faced difficulties due to low water pressure from the nearest fire hydrant, located about 800m from the premises, adding that the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
