Flags, fanfare and five-year plan: HK charts course at handover anniversary

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee on Wednesday (July 1) said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's first Five-Year Plan will chart the direction for city's economic and social development, during a celebration marking the 29th anniversary of the city's return to China.
In Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping told attendees at a gathering in celebration of the 105th founding anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party that promoting the long-term prosperity and stability in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions is essential to realise the national rejuvenation.
