The initial focus on Saturday when the mandatory face mask rule rolls out will be on public transport to ensure full compliance among users, says the Health Ministry.
Its director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that on Monday, adding that the ministry encourages the wearing of the face mask because evidence has suggested that using face masks can break the chain of Covid-19 transmission by 60%.
Besides public transport, Dr Noor Hisham said starting Saturday, individuals must put on a face mask if they were in crowded areas or confined places.
