A three-year research undertaken by Gelang Patah Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) on prawn breeding is expected to push numbers of its production for Malaysia.
Fisheries Department director general Datuk Munir Mohd Nawi said on Tuesday that the white prawn breeding technology would be tested in a pilot project by early next year with three prawn breeders in Johor and Pahang, adding that the new technology would generate new alternative income for fishermen or potential new prawn breeders.
