Mariam Sakai, a Lundayeh entrepreneur from Keningau, Sabah, spent decades grappling with the burden of a red MyKad despite being born and raised in Malaysia.

She finally obtained her blue MyKad in her 30s — a recognition she treasures — and hopes others in her community will not have to endure the same long struggle for citizenship.
