The government has approved 573 development projects worth RM73 million for Kampung Baru Cina and 21 projects worth RM2 million for Kampung India this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said on Monday (June 29) that RM328.9mil had been allocated for Kampung Baru development projects between 2023 and 2025, benefiting residents in 613 settlements nationwide.

Responding to Sungai Siput MP S. Kesavan's question on the allocation gap, Aiman Athirah said the two programmes should not be compared as the Kampung India development programme only came under the ministry's purview this year, while the Kampung Baru programme has been in place for much longer.
