Govt mulling privatised prisons to ease overcrowding

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman said the government may consider setting up privately-managed prisons to solve the overcrowding problem in Malaysian jails.
Azis said that at the closing ceremony of the Prison Reform Colloquium at the Prison Department headquarters on Friday (Nov 22), adding that the government has started implementing the parole and Compulsory Attendance Order systems as a means of reducing overcrowding in prisons.
