Govt sets up joint ministerial panel for issues concerning non-Muslim houses of worship

The government has set up a joint committee at the federal level to look into issues involving non-Muslim houses of worship in the country following the controversial demolition of a Hindu temple in Kedah by the Alor Setar City Council on Dec 1.
In the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said the committee will help determine registered and non-registered non-Muslim houses of worship and the follow-up action based on law to be taken by the respective state governments and local authorities.
