The dwindling number of students interested in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is worrying the government in its aspiration to become a developed nation.
According to Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin, only 44% of students took STEM subjects in 2018, a lot less than the government’s target of 60%.
