Identify target groups to receive RM500 EPF contribution, govt urged

Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has urged the government to accurately and comprehensively identify the target groups to receive the RM500 contribution for Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

The Ayer Hitam MP said that during his speech on Budget 2023 in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28), adding that it was concerning that two million EPF contributors aged 40 to 54 have less than RM10,000 in their respective Account 1, and asked if the contribution was only meant for active EPF members while excluding inactive members, such as those working abroad or having their own businesses.
