Police were not able to take more aggressive measures to quell rioters at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple as it was a place of worship, says Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun. Responding to concerns that police should have exercised extra force by using tear gas and water cannons, the Inspector-General of Police said those methods were not suitable, especially when the area is considered sacred by worshipers. He spoke to reporters after visiting Fire and Rescue Department personnel Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim at the Subang Jaya Medical centre on Tuesday.
