Investigation announced after 296 staff die during Indonesia elections

An investigation will be carried out into the deaths of nearly 270 election staff, mostly of fatigue-related illneses caused by long hours of work counting millions of ballot papers following Indonesia’s presidential and legislative elections.
The ballot, which saw approximately 6 million workers participate in the single-day event, was regarded as one of the most complex in history.
