Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming said it was not a Speaker's obligation to ensure an MP's attendance when making a ruling in the august House. He said he waited for Tanjung Karang MP Tan Sri Noh Omar but he was not present during the ruling on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Nga said as a senior MP of six terms, Noh should know better that it was his duty to attend Parliamentary sessions.
Nga barred Noh from entering Dewan Rakyat for three days after the Umno lawmaker insulted the institution of the Speaker. Noh had accused Nga of not being fit to be a Deputy Speaker.
