Khairy: Wearing face masks indoors is now optional

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced on Wednesday (Sept 7) that the wearing of face masks will no longer be mandatory at indoor places, and that the removal takes effect immediately.
Khairy said mask wearing will only be compulsory at public transportation as well as at hospitals and medical institutions, adding however that the ministry strongly encourage masks to still be worn when in crowded places like night markets, places of worship, stadiums.
