King consents to Emergency proclamation in Gerik and Bugaya

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has consented for an emergency to be declared in Gerik, Perak and Bugaya, Sabah, thus postponing the by-elections in the two seats.
In a statement on Wednesday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Cabinet had presented their views to the King on the by-elections, which were both scheduled to be held simultaneously on Jan 16.
