King credits 'whole of nation' approach with boosting Malaysia's economic growth

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has commended the "whole of nation" approach that helped make Malaysia the fastest-growing economy in South-East Asia.

His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said that when opening the second session of the 15th Parliament on Monday (Feb 13), adding that the government should focus on the agenda of strengthening Malaysia's competitiveness as an investment destination.

As an open economy, the King said he welcomed efforts to prevent leakages of public funds while speeding up efforts to effectively deliver targeted subsidies, adding that he valued the commitment by the current government to aggressively weed out corruption.
