Lumut villagers claim poultry farms contaminating oil palm plantation water supply

Villagers from Kampung Getam near Lumut, Perak claim nearby poultry farms are contaminating the water supply for their oil palm plantations.
Villager Zabidi Said, 63, said runoff from poultry farms located close to their plantation, was being channelled into a trench, which is the plantations' source of water and it is affecting at least 500ha of plantations belonging to the villagers.
Zabidi claimed that the dark and foul-smelling water was also causing allergic reactions.
