A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior officer from the headquarters in Putrajaya pleaded not guilty to a charge of extorting a policeman at the Bukit Mertajam magistrate's court on Thursday. Rommy Ma'i'aruf, 38, was charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail sentence of 10 years or a fine or whipping upon conviction.
