China's world No. 1 shuttler Shi Yuqi admitted he was disappointed to withdraw from the Malaysia Open men's singles final on Jan 11 due to a back injury he had been dealing with since the quarter-final against Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong.

Shi retired at 21-23, 1-6 that saw Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn clinching his first Super 1000 title at Axiata Arena.
