Malaysia reports high number of dangerous slopes, Parliament told

Malaysia has identified 26,722 slopes nationwide, with 1,577 categorised as "Very High" risk, according to Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Responding to Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (Barisan-Pekan) in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Oct 15), Ahmad also noted that the ministry is prepared for potential slope-related disasters through the Landslide Early Warning System (EWS), which detects at-risk slopes and provides early alerts to the Public Works Department (JKR) offices.
