The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have finally boxed-in the remaining Islamist militants in Marawi City and claimed that 90% of the area is now terrorist-free. AFP spokesperson Brig Gen Restituto Padilla told reporters only a handful of Islamist militants are holding the fort in a section of the city. They are believed to be protecting persons of high value. Padilla also confirmed there has been no collateral damage from daily air strikes conducted by the AFP on areas where the terrorists are believed to be hiding out.
