Despite Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s answer to him in Dewan Rakyat that the national automotive policy would be reviewed to ensure that local national car manufacturers like Proton and Perodua remain competitive, Ayer Hitam MP and MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong remained concerned that the proposal for a third national car will bring higher protectionism, which will result in higher car prices.
Dr Wee said that on Monday when answering reporter’s question in Parliament. He also asked Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching to “walk the talk” while addressing the SJK (C) relocation issue.
