Media council to operate free of government interference, says Fahmi

The establishment of the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) will enable media-related issues to be addressed in a more inclusive, sustainable, and independent manner—free from government interference, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Speaking at a press conference after presenting appointment letters to 12 MMC founding board members on Tuesday (July 15), Fahmi said the council will function independently of the Communications Ministry and be granted full autonomy to carry out its duties as outlined in its mandate.
