Nearly 2,000 porn posts and ads removed from social media since 2022, Fahmi tells Dewan

A total of 1,993 pornographic posts and advertisements have been removed from various social media platforms between 2022 and Feb 15 this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Responding to a question from Dr Halimah Ali (PN-Kapar) on Tuesday regarding the ministry’s efforts to combat pornographic content on social media and the internet, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that during the same period, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) blocked 3,670 websites for inappropriate content.
When asked about measures to prevent the spread of defamatory and seditious content, particularly involving the royalty and politicians, Fahmi stressed that those who spread falsehoods would face legal consequences.
