Nik Nazmi: Malaysia has great potential in downstream REE industry, supporting EV manufacturing

Malaysia holds significant potential in the downstream rare earth elements (REE) industry, positioning itself as a leading producer of super magnets, particularly to support the growth of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, the Dewan Rakyat was informed on Monday (Nov 11).

Wrapping up the policy-level debate on the Supply Bill 2025 (Budget 2025) on behalf of his ministry, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad disclosed that rare earth mining company Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd is ready to process the nation’s REE, adhering to strict environmental, health, and safety standards.
