Plans to provide Customs Department enforcement officers with firearms hit a snag, according to the Auditor-General's 2017 Report.
It said the Customs Department had purchased 659 assorted guns worth RM2.8mil between 2014 and 2015 for the purpose.
However, the firearms could not be distributed to enforcement officers as permits were not obtained earlier from the Inspector-General of Police.
