The orange economy—a sector encompassing creative industries such as film, music, and animation—has strong potential to drive Malaysia’s future economic growth, says Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Speaking at a post-Cabinet press conference on Friday (Aug 1), Fahmi, who is also the government spokesman, said the sector was included in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) following a proposal and engagement between the Communications Ministry and the Economy Ministry.
He added that more details on the sector’s specific incentives and benefits will be revealed when Budget 2026 is tabled in October.
